The 12 Things You Need to to Know Before Tonight's Katy Perry Concert!

1.  Be Prepared for Awesomeness!

• We saw back-to-back shows in Sunrise, FL and Miami, FL and it was two hours of amazing!  I have been to a lot of concerts, but Katy's Prismatic Tour was the best! Even going back to see her in Boston!

2.  Unleash your inner KatyCat!  Bring your colored wigs and animal prints!

• Worried that you might be the only one dressing up in colored wigs and jungle skirts?  No need to worry, the KatyCats are out in force at the concert.  TONS of people were there dressed in jungle prints, colored wigs, leafy jungle outfits and even some very creative outfits with lights attached.   Enjoy the concert and dress up!

3.  Cirque du Katy  - More than just a Concert

• The Prismatic Tour is not just a concert it is a spectacular!  Most concerts are a singer or band get up on stage and sing for two hours.  The singing is the main thing and their some mild entertainment.  Not so at the Katy Perry concert.  Have you ever been to Cirque Du Soleil?  If you have you are well prepared for the concert. There will be acrobats.  There will be people suspended in the air.  There is dancing and some great entertaining videos.  I don't want to give too much away, so just keep paying attention to the whole stage and not just on Katy to capture the whole experience.

4.  Get the Best Seats for your Best Concert Experience

• If you haven't purchased tickets, yet.  Here is some advice for you.  Katy Perry's stage has two ramps that go down to a secondary stage which is 3/4 of the way into the middle of the floor area of the audience.  Your best tickets are on the floor right in front of this secondary stage.  Why? Because Katy spends 30-40% of the concert on this stage.  This is where she does all her special interaction with the audience.
• Should I get seats in the General Admission "Pit"?  These can be a great location to get up close to Katy and see all the great action on the stage.  However, two major concerns.  
• Unless you're tall, you might find that you are blocked by others and it hinders you enjoyment of the show.  
• Since Katy spends 30-40% of the concert in the secondary stage...you end up staring at her back for a lot of the concert.  I am not saying it is a bad view ;-), but if you want to be staring at her lovely face and hanging on every word, then I suggest you are better off with floor seats.

5.  Your Best Chance to be Pulled on Stage

• When is your birthday?  If it is near the date of the concert you have a chance to get pulled out of the crowd and get serenaded by Katy for "Birthday".  Honestly, you get very up close and personal.  So close, I thought she might have planted some people in the audience.  
• Like Pizza?  At least in South Florida at one point she called up a youngster to take a pizza from her to share with the audience.  I think this changes depending on the venue.  

6.  Selfie Opportunities

• Katy does a selfie with someone in the audience near the beginning of the show.  She will stop a the back end of the pit do an impromptu selfie.  Be ready :-)
• If you get pulled up on stage during Birthday.  Plenty of selfies.

7.  Holy Costume Changes, Batman!  I counted 10 costume changes!!

• I counted 10 number of costume changes and I may have a missed one or two.  One thing you know you can expect from Katy is that she is going to keep you guessing on where she is going to appear on stage and if she is going to be in a new costume.  Some of the costumes include:

• Light up costume and Light up pony tail
• Egyptian
• Pink Kitty Kat
• Fishbones
• Butterfly
• Happy Faces
• Yin/Yang
• Jungle
• Birthday Suit
• Fireworks

8.  Savor "This Moment"

• Did you really want to enjoy this concert on a 5 inch screen?  I was surrounded by people and everyone was recording the concert on their phone or camera.  To do this everyone was staring at their screens and not really experiencing the concert.  I was guilty of this, too.  I know we all want to capture the moment and have this to see forever (and share on social media), but we miss out on experiencing "This Moment".  In Katy's new song "This Moment" she sings..."So why don't you be here with me, be here with me now".  She probably didn't mean her concert, but I noticed that when I put my phone down, I enjoyed the concert a lot more and felt the energy and swayed and danced with the music.  At times Katy was close enough to almost touch her.  Put the phone down and live in This Moment.

9.  Get Personal

• My favorite part of the concert was when Katy talked to the audience.  Unlike most performers who have trouble remembering what city they are in "Hello, Cleveland!! Oops. We are in Cincinnati..sorry about that".  Katy takes a nice break in the frenetic pace of the concert to slow it down and have a nice moment with the audience.  You can tell she really loves her fans.10.  

10.  Discover your new Favorite Song

• I will admit it, I went to the show to hear my old favorites such as Firework, I Kissed a Girl, Teenage Dream and new favorites Roar and Dark Horse, but I left the concert with one song stuck in my head.  The song is "By The Grace of God".  Katy sings this deeply personal song about the aftermath of her break up and how much is devastated her.  The song touches you and something about hearing it pour out of her on stage was so much more powerful than listening to it on my iPhone. See the emotion on her face was amazing and created my favorite moment of the concert and found me a new favorite song.
